Holy cow. That is a surreal feeling. I have spend the better part of 21 years in school trying to get to this point and I don't really believe that it is here. Today was the last day I will touch an animal officially as a vet student, tomorrow and Thursday I will be reviewing journal articles and making a presentation and then going out with my class to celebrate our last few hours together as the magnificent, 102-strong Class of 2014.
That being said, I think my sister might be more excited than I am to have me coming home (mainly because she doesn't want to have to look after my goats one second longer). Here are a few highlights of my daily alerts:
I think you get the point...
Getting close to graduation also means I only have a few more days to finish up some projects I've been working on before leaving the Classic City. One of my top priorities has been finishing a project for my friend's new baby, Damaris. She's a month old now and cute as a button and I'll get to meet her for the first time at the Christian Veterinary Fellowship graduation party. Luckily she won't remember the fact that I was a slacker and didn't get her anything until she was already hanging about for a month. To be fair, I spent a good part of my free time the past several months trying to finish a project for her that turned into a complete disaster. I was determined to make it work and spend quite a few hours working on it before I got frustrated enough and buried it in a box to never see the light of day.
But, I made a newer and better gift for her! Her mom Stevie is a fellow goat and nature lover and has made her nursery a wildlife/nature/woodland-farm theme. Its hard to explain but it totally works. There is a teepee, a fox skin rug, and soon to be a massive felted goat.
I can't wait to see little Damaris at graduation and see her with her new friend!
"Some of the people became followers of Paul and believed. Among them was Dionysius, a member of the Areopagus, also a woman named Damaris, and a number of others." Acts 17:34
