Orders in!

Winter hasn’t quite started in the south and I’m already planning the spring crop. Today I put my order in for the pumpkin seeds. I’ve chosen: Montana Jack, Jarrahdale, Juane Gros De Paris, Musquee De Provence, Pipian from Tuxpan, and Warted Gourd. (if you want to check out any of these varieties for yourself you can check out seedsavers.org, sustainableseedco.com, or rareseeds.com). I can’t wait for spring!

I think the lady bugs are also eager for some spring weather. They have taken over my room and the rest of the house trying to keep warm. Here are a few on my curtain rod.

Yay!

I found out today that I passed my national board exam! T minus 5 months and I'll officially be a Dr.

Oh my

That pretty much sums up my life right now.

We went out and fed cattle for the vet I'm staying with today. I feel like my lungs are frost-bit. It is so cold ice crystals form in your eyes and the wind just cuts you to the bone.

Dakota and Pete, the doctors two pups, are enjoying the extra company around the house for sure.

Land of snow and ice

My rotations in vet school have landed me in Milroy, Indiana for the next few weeks. I was supposed to arrive Monday, but the impending snow storm pushed me to leave a little earlier. Here’s hoping it won’t be as bad as they say! I’m a southerner and rarely see snow, so it has already been interesting learning to ice skate in my truck. It was a bad sign when I got off the interstate and the first thing I saw was a line of snow and ice across the road, like a warning that things won’t be the same after this. It was amazing to see the snow blowing about and drifting across the road. Luckily these roads are straight and flat, not like the GA roads.  Onward Ho!

Bonus, I did venture out to the store to have some snacks in case of a snow-in, and I brought back PIZZA KING! My dad is originally from northern Indiana, so I’m familiar with it. I think it might be worth a freezing blizzard to have a little Pizza King.

I'm sure Glow is missing out on all this potential snuggle time, but she would get lost/frozen in this winter weather.
